If you are interested in using the blog as part of your own research you’ll find more details on my new site FAQ page which it would be helpful for you to read before contacting me. Thanks :-)

This blog formed part of my action research for the final year of my work-place based degree.

As well as sharing ideas and best practice I found that by looking at, commenting on and tagging each other’s displays we were able to investigate what works and doesn’t in the classroom and explore some reasons for this.

Visit The Classroom Displays and Bulletin Boards Bookstore (powered by Amazon) (US store here) for a wide range of classroom related books and other products.

Buy books mentioned in the blog:

Hands on Numeracy

numeracy1

A good source of display ideas for maths in Keystage 1 and 2. Maths is always a tricky area to make displays for and some of these are brilliant. The Olly Octopus page is a particular favourite. See it here

Hands on Literacy

HandsonLiteracy
Another good source of ideas, this time for literacy. One of the things about these books is the ease with which a little imagination can transform an idea to fit whatever story you might need. For example the ideas for a story checklist from The Lighhouse Keepers Lunch in this book were adapted to produce this wonderful display about Handa’s Surprise.

Hands on Display

book1

I haven’t used this one myself but it looks good. Contains many ideas for interactive displays, something most of us find quite difficult.

Other books mentioned in posts

Hairy Mclary
Elmer the Elephant
